ONE of the world’s top astronomers has revealed his view of newly released US Navy footage that has taken the UFO world by storm. US TV scientist Neil deGrasse Tyson has admitted having no idea what was recorded. However, he then dismissed what is being described as some of the most compelling evidence for alien UFOs ever released, as “of no interest.” Video showing a bizarre object, which some have claimed defied physics in how it flew, was released by the US Department of Defence as it confirmed it had spent $22 million (£16.5 million) researching such phenomena from 2007 to 2012. It was filmed by US Navy pilots off the coast of San Diego in November 2004 in what has become known as the Nimitz UFO case.
Yet, astrophysicist Mr Tyson is neither convinced or interested by the seemingly remarkable footage. He told CNN: “The evidence is so paltry for aliens to visit Earth, I have no further interest. “Call me when you have a dinner invite from an alien.” He said that it was a huge jump to go from “we don’t know what is in this video” to “it must be aliens flying it.” Mr Tyson said: “The universe brims with mysteries. Just because you don’t know what it is you’re looking at doesn’t mean it’s intelligent aliens visiting from another planet. “Scientists live in mystery every day of our lives. People are uncomfortable not knowing, not the scientists. I’m fine. We don’t know what it is. Keep checking it out.” However, he does hope investigations have taken place into what it was. Mr Tyson said: “It’s a flying object and we don’t know what it is. I would hope somebody’s checking it out.” Many people remain convinced the video is compelling evidence that we may not be alone. Andre Milne, founder of defence technology firm Unicorn Aerospace, which describes itself as “the world’s leading developer of advanced navigation technology”, said the Nimitz UFO case is a first for the US Government. He told Express.co.uk: “You know, this technically qualifies as UFO disclosure by the US Department of Defense.” The To the Stars Academy has described the video on its website as “the first official UAP (unidentified aerial phenomena) footage released by the US Government.”
